GENE SUGANDY is a Cross-Cultural Training Consultant / Coach. Originally from Canada, Gene studied in Los Angeles, U.S.A. where she met her Indonesian husband.

Upon completing her BA degree and work experience, she and her husband relocated back to Indonesia in 1985 where she has been residing since. Soon after arriving in Indonesia Gene studied Bahasa Indonesia which she is now fluent.

In 2008 Gene started as a Cross-Cultural trainer and has had numerous assignments as an Indonesian 'Country Specialist'. She has been recognized as one of the top trainers in South East Asia. Topics that Gene has been asked to cover in depth include business etiquette, building better communicating skills with Indonesian staff, cultural differences, increasing staff productivity, interacting with Indonesian colleagues in business and social occasions, personal safety, personal banking, and hiring personal staff.

Gene has trained global executives from various companies across different industries such as, electronics, FMCG, Oil & Gas, aviation, construction, telecommunication, mining. This has given her a wide perspective of issues and problems facing foreign nationals working in Indonesia. She has also trained executives of multiple nationalities and can share how specific national backgrounds and specific cultural traits can result in cultural misunderstandings and problems.
